Workshop BD - Peripheral Vascular Surgery
24 March – 26 March 2027 · 3 days · eXplora - 2 rue Marie Hamm 67000 Strasbourg, Strasbourg
Overview
Workshop BD - Peripheral Vascular Surgery
Management of femoropopliteal and below-the-knee PAD: from lesion characterisation to successful endovascular treatment
Learning objectives
- Position and justify each technology (atherothrombectomy, scoring, angioplasty, stenting) at each node of the treatment decision tree for peripheral and below-the-knee PAD, based on lesion characteristics.
- Characterise a lesion from imaging according to length, degree of calcification, and occlusion vs stenosis.
- Select the appropriate vessel preparation strategy for the characterised lesion and justify the choice.
- Identify the specific features of below-the-knee (BTK) lesions and justify the choice of an appropriate treatment strategy.
- Explain how Rotarex atherothrombectomy works and distinguish its indications from its contraindications in accordance with the IFU.
- Perform a focused-force angioplasty with the Ultrascore balloon, applying measures to reduce the risk of dissection.
- Justify the use of the Lutonix drug-coated balloon in lesion preparation.
- Independently perform a complete angioplasty and LifeStent stenting procedure on the simulator, in accordance with the procedural criteria grid.
