Explant Analysis

We propose to collect and analyze your explants (with defects or not) so that we may be actors together in the evolution of medical devices and in the improvement of patient safety.

Explantation is not a fatality and can provide essential information to improve medical devices and procedures in the future.

Objectives

Our objective is not to evaluate material vigilance cases but rather to offer a unique service to study and categorize the defects that may occur on vascular implants or on other surgical specialties.

Gepromed collects and analyzes all explants to understand and characterize number of complications that arise with vascular prostheses, in particular the phenomena of tearing and rupture observed after several years of implantation in patients.

All explanted medical devices (whether complicated or not) are analyzed as part of a European collaborative network of vascular surgeons. The company is a major player in the field of biomaterials applied to vascular surgery.

Over the years, we have built up the world's largest database of vascular explants.

In line with the strategy of opening up Gepromed and extending the implant cycle to other specialties, our teams receive and analyze explants from all specialties.

Analyze and help improve implants

Since December 6, 2012, our vascular explant analysis protocol has been ISO 9001 certified.

Each explant arriving at Gepromed follows these steps:

As soon as it is received, it is referenced in our database. All relevant information is archived and updated.
The explant is then analyzed macroscopically before being washed.
On request, additional analyses such as faxitron or histological analysis, or macro and microscopic analysis after enzymatic washing of the explant, can be carried out. Following this type of analysis, a detailed report is published.

How to send us explants ?

Please send us the sample in a sealed bottle containing :

10% formalin (approx. 4% formaldehyde)
The data collection sheet

If you have no longer transport kit? No Problem!
Send us an e-mail to explant@gepromed.com mentioning your work address and we will send you some bottles and data collection sheets.
Upon receipt of your explants, we will notify you by-email of their analysis and will send you the results.
